Sellers based in the US may receive a Form 1099-K when certain sales and transaction thresholds are met. As Flight Club is a marketplace that processes payments, the IRS requires Form 1099-K be issued to all US sellers who have grossed more than $20,000 from over 200 transactions made during the calendar year. Please note that certain states impose lower thresholds for issuing Form 1099-K and you may also be issued a Form 1099-K if you meet an applicable state threshold, as set forth below:
Arkansas $2,500
District of Columbia $600
Illinois $1,000 and 4 transactions
Maryland $600
Massachusetts $600
New Jersey $1,000
Vermont $600
Virginia $600
If you have reached the thresholds described above, you will receive an email between now and January 9, 2024 from Avalara, powered by CertCapture, our global compliance platform we’ve partnered with to securely collect certain taxpayer information. Avalara will ask you to submit a digital Form W-9 in order for us to obtain the information necessary to issue Form 1099-K. Please see IRS.gov for more details regarding Form 1099-K.
